Perfect for spot-cleaning carpets and for stairs, upholstery, auto interiors, and even mattresses, this portable machine deep-cleans by forcing a warm solution of water and cleansing concentrate into fibers and vacuuming up the dirty solution. The 1200-watt machine has a water heater for boosting performance by increasing the cleaning solution's temperature (up to but not exceeding 180 degrees F) and preventing the solution from cooling. At the flick of a switch, the machine's powered hand-tool with a 4-inch-wide brush roll attached to a flexible hose either brushes with a spray of cleaning solution or vacuums. A separate 4-inch cleaning tool/brush without a powered brush roll also is included. It's intended for upholstery and mattresses. Here's how the machine works: On its front is a removable plastic tank into which goes a mixture of hot tap water and Bissell's Little Green Formula (8 ounces included). Next to this tank is a removable tank for collecting dirty water. A trigger on the hand-tool's handle applies solution as desired. The machine measures 12 inches wide, 16 inches high, and 10-1/2 inches deep. It has cord (20 feet long) and hose storage and carries a 1-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Bissell 17251 I read the reviews on this after I purchased this machine. I think it does a terrific job for it's size. Although I haven't been able to suck all the water that I put down, it came very close, I just had to put a little more elbow grease into it. For it's size the suction is not bad. The dirty tank did leak,ONLY because there was dog hair and gunk trapped in hole which was an easy fix by pulling out the hair. Finally, my sofa doesn't smell like a dog. Okay, the hose needs to be longer, and who wouldn't want a little more powerful suction, but I've actually cleaned entire rooms with this thing, from furniture to carpets, and even my best oriental rugs. My only real problem with this machine is getting it back from my brother, who keeps borrowing it to clean the upholstery in his car and the carpeting on his boat. Great little machine As a mom with two young kids, and a new home with new carpeting we were concerned about spills, spit up and such. This Bissell has saved us. We had a handheld small Bissell that worked OK, but after 5 years it gave out. We purchased this one and couldn't be more pleased. The heat feature really helps get the stain out, and the turbo brush works great. The seperate compartments make cleaning easier, and the ability to store with solution in it so it's always ready to go is a great plus. Worked Fine, Then Stopped I bought this Green Machine from Lowes Hardware. It worked really well for about 10 uses (roughly 3 hours) and then dropped dead. I wound up throwing it away. Apparently they clog up very easily if you don't clean them throughly after every use and if you store them them with cleaner in the tank.
My fault probably but the instructions should inform you AND the unit should have a little more engineering. The concept is great.
Jim Good For Pets I have the one with NO Turbo Brush. It's very very very GOOD carpet. But when I clean other tings than carpet, it dos not pick up. That is why i did not rate it 5 stars. It is VERY nosy. I would get it for carpet ONLY. But it is for 90's. Bissell was MUCH better Deep Cleaners. I'm not a big fan of this Bissell. Bissell dos not say Clean with this one, they say I Mean I Don't Work, not, We Mean CLEAN at all. It's OK but you should not get this Bissell deep cleaner. It's is very good on pet pee and other things. I think Bissell could do better on this. DO NOT GET THIS DEEP CLEANER! Remember, this is VERY VERY NOSY!
