You don't have to lug around a device the size of a washing machine just to harness the cleaning power of steam. This environmental multisteamer from Eureka is a self-contained, tidy little unit that combines hygienic and degreasing power with a wide range of accessories. Just fill the 2-cup boiler with tap water and you're ready to blast the grime off of floors, tile, sealed grout, upholstery, shower doors, greasy stoves, and windows. Great for the whole house, the machine kills E. coli, salmonella, and dust mites--all without the use of detergents that can harm the environment and irritate the senses. You can also put it to use steaming wrinkles out of clothing, cleaning bedding, and sanitizing pet beds.
With a sturdy, maneuverable base, the cleaner is easy to tote around, though it took us a couple of tries to get the knack of attaching the accessories. There are also a lot of smart details, like the sealed power switch, safety filler cap, and steam tank and power-indicator lights. For a full range of cleaning options, the kit includes two extension wands, a floor brush, a straight nozzle, an angled nozzle, a plastic brush, a brass brush, a fabric brush and cover cloth, and a window squeegee. An included storage bag holds the machine and its small army of parts. --Emily Bedard
Don't bother I was hoping that this steamer would help out with multiple tasks around the house, but found it to be less than impressive:
steam clothes-- it steams out wrinkles, but leaves clothes too wet to wear (I had to iron the shirt dry so I could wear it... twice the work.)
Steam clean furniture-- the attachment comes with a small terry cloth cover that is supposed to clean up dirt loosened by the steam, but the cover is too small for the attachment and flies off when cleaning. In addition, the attachment has two tabs for attaching the window attachment that gets caught on the fabric you are cleaning.
steam clean rug--don't bother. same problems as above
steam clean floor-ok, but a mop is better
clean windows--- the water puddles and needs to be cleaned with a rag any way.
The hose system & electrical cord storage needs improvement as well. The hose only wraps around the steamer once and then justs hangs for storage. The electrical cord is extra long, but there is no place to wrap it so all in all it's very difficult to store.
Sorry Eureka, this machine needs some serious design adjustments for the power of the steam to be worth the price of the machine. Worked great for my purposes I do not own this machine but my friend does. During the summer I had 4 boys staying with me - ages 12, 11, 9 and 8. Needless to say with that many young men in the house the toilet wasn't always being hit accurately. I cleaned and cleaned the bathroom (I am a clean freak). It still smelled like urine to me. I asked my friend to borrow her Eureka steamer and went after the bathroom (mainly the toilet and floor). It worked great!!!!!!! All the odor disappeared finally and my toilet looked brand new again. I went to work on the rest of the bathroom with it and was impressed. I also used it to clean out all of the gunk in my window tracks around the house (gross!) and it worked great. Of course you have to 'mop' up the grime afterwards but where do you expect the grimy water to go? It doesn't just disappear magically. Anyhow the one time I got to use it I was impressed. I have often thought of buying one but hadn't gotten around to it yet. I am looking for a Christmas gift though :) I am giving it 4 stars because I only used it once but my friend seems to still love it and uses it all the time. The Best Cleaning and Sanitizer Device Ever!! I am a housewife and mom of four, and if I can get help out with the daily grind of cleaning and other chores it is a blessing.. This machine does just that for me! I just got through cleaning the refridgerator handles that are white, in which I have tried everything I could think of to get them white! I had tried Clorox and a scrubber, and that didn't even get everything off.. This time I squirted a little Clorox clean up, and then put the little scrub brush on the end of the steamer, and boy did it come clean this time! And now I know it is sanitary as well. I have used the steam mop, and it works well on the floors and IT IS better than just a regular mop for the reviewer that said it wasn't- a regular mop doesn't even compare because believe me, I have used many different mops in my 36 years! It lifts grime up,etc., that a mop would never get because it is straight hot steam going directly to the floor- when hot water hits the air on a rag or whatever, it immediately starts to cool off, thus becomes useless and germs galore- gets the floors sooo clean, I mean like new with no film or streaks.. This is straight hot steam blown to where you want it- and for those who say it blows water out, I know that when it condensates after not using it for a while, you are supposed to just blow the excess water off into a cup or something, and then it will begin to blow steam again.. It says it repeatedly in the directions.. You can have continuous steam or not- it comes with so many different attatchments for all kinds of jobs, and it is just all around a handy tool to have for indoors and out, I think..Anyway, if you need a do it all type of steam machine, this is the one to buy. Couldn't be happier Just used my Enviro Steamer for the first time and couldn't be more pleased. It was nice to finally find a product that lives up to the manufactor's claims. Easy to use and had enough steam to complete the job and still some left over. I tried the Shark steam cleaner but got tired of having to refill it every six or seven minutes. With the Enviro I only have to refill about every twenty-five sometimes longer. The only negitive I found was that it is somewhat awkard to drain the tank. A drain valve on the bottom of the tank would make it much easier but other than that I highly recommend this product. Great for some uses I have to update my review now that I have been living in my new house for almost a year. The downstairs in my new house is almost entirely wood floors. After a month of cleaning the floors on my hands and knees, I couldn't stand it anymore and switched to the steamer. It doesn't do as good a job, but it saves my knees. Only problem... after about 9 months of weekly use, the part that attaches the mop pad to the mopping unit broke.
I am a mother of four children and needless to say, I appreaciate any cleaning help I can get. For some things the steamer cleans better than traditional methods. For instance, it is great around sink handles, basins, grout, etc. It does an excellent job of cleaning counters quickly. I don't feel it does a very good job of cleaning the floor, but then I clean mine on my hands and knees. I did not find that it steamed wrinkles out of clothing very well. Nor did it do diddly to clean my upholstery.
Now that I am moving into a new home, I will probably not use it as it uses so much pressure I feel it will ruin protective sealants on the grout and so forth.
I have no complaints with lack of steam. I find the water lasts long enough to clean the kitchen and all four bathrooms without running out. The water heats up in about 15 minutes and I have never run out of pressure while using it.
One gripe, that seems trivial, but gets annoying after a while is the cord. Why couldn't Eureka provide some sort of cord storage for the item?
Overall, it does a great job of cleaning some items, but I probably wouldn't spend the money on it again.
