Dr. Friedrichs Gruppe 691300 Wireless Thermometer, Plus Clock/Calendar Description

By combining a main unit that displays the indoor temperature (plus a clock and calendar) and the temperature from a remote, wireless sensor that can be set up either indoors or outdoors up to 100 feet away, this battery-operated, radio-wave set monitors conditions at two locations simultaneously. (The main unit will handle up to three additional remote, wireless sensors, though those must be ordered separately.) The large LCD display has three sections: one showing the temperature at the remote sensor's location, another showing the temperature at the main unit's location, and the third showing clock/calendar information. Minimum/maximum temperatures recorded by the remote sensor for any given period can be recalled, and the measuring period can be reset at any time. The display can be set for either Fahrenheit or Celsius. The remote sensor can also be programmed to sound an alarm when temperatures fall outside or inside programmed parameters (for a baby's room or wine cellar) or when the freezing conditions are reached (for a garden or garage). The clock can also be programmed to sound an alarm. The main unit uses two AA batteries and the remote sensor one 9V battery (batteries not included), and there are low-battery indicators for each. The main unit has a built-in desktop stand or can be hung by a nail or screw with a wall-mount slot in the back. It measures 3-1/4 inches wide, 5-3/4 inches high, and 3/4 inch thick. The remote sensor lies flat or can be wall mounted (mounting tapes included) and measures 2-1/8 inches wide, 4 inches high, and 1 inch thick. Because no assembly is required, the system operates as soon as batteries are installed. --Fred Brack

This is one cool thermometer.

We got this for dad as a gift recently. He's usually not a big fan of things that use batteries, but this is pretty simple to use.

The sensor works up to 100 feet, so its highly functional, too. We tested it out in the freezer tonight (a slow weekend) and it works great.

With cool features like a maximum and minimum daily temperature readout and a freeze alarm, this is a great buy.
