Great for 1 1/2 years..... Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5
So, I've just figured out that really, when I'm looking at online reviews, I ought to look for people who have owned the item for a while! I bought this vacuum cleaner in October 2003. I loved it for a while. It picked up wonderfully. I loved seeing how much dirt got sucked into the clear canister!

However. Two months ago the ball bearings froze up and melted the beater bar. We bought a used Eureka cleaner as a temporary vacuum while we waited for the parts to come in. The same thing happened with that Eureka! My husband fixed the old one with the parts that came in, and then it happened again. I think this must be a defect with Eureka vacuum cleaners.

The best part about coming back and writing this online review for me is seeing that I didn't pay very much for the vacuum cleaner. :-)

2 Years and Never a Problem Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5
The reason this vacuum is currently unavailable is because word of mouth has spread, this is the best vacuum at the lowest price you can find. I purchased this at Amazon when money was short and my old Hoover had died. It arrived quickly and I found that it assembled easily with a Phillips screwdriver, and when I turned it on and vacuumed I was amazed at what it picked up. The first time I vacuumed with it I had to empty the cannister twice. My old 70's style shag carpet look fluffly and brand new. I have been worried about the quality of the item, but it's over two years old and I never changed a belt. With this vacuum, you get more than what you pay for! My life is definitely twenty to thirty times more dust-free because of this vacuum, it picks up well enough that all my furniture is less dusty because walking around stirs up less dust from the carpet. Life is easier and better. A friend of mine who originally recommend I check out Eureka Hepafilters has severe allergy problems and tried and returned several more expensive models, but has kept this one because it beats the pants off all the others and she says she doesn't even sneeze when she empties the cannister. So this is definitely the one to get. I trust Amazon a lot, but if you can't get it here, search for it elsewhere. You can't go wrong. Watch out for the model numbers though. Some of the other Litespeeds aren't rated as highly. Get this one, don't even think twice. Now, if you're one of those filthy people who only vacuum twice a year and have five dogs, ten children or roomates and a bunch of debris lying around cause you're too fat and sloppy to bend over, I couldn't tell you if this vacuum is up to snuff for you (hey, clean your sty ya filthy pig!) but for regular usage by concerned housekeepers, don't think twice, this vacuum is for you.

Not as advertised Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5
I've had this vacuum for about 1 year now. Just a background, my wife does most of the vacuuming around the house and she wanted an upright to replace our old Hoover cannister vacuum that had broken. Anyway, I noticed that after I purchased the vacuum that she was not using it that often and that she complained that it wasn't a very good vacuum - didn't think too much of it since it didn't really affect me too much (I don't vacuum much, lol) and it was kinda inexpensive (was a gold box purchase). Instead, she started to use a cordless Shark vacuum.
Recently, I tried using this vacuum on multiple occasions.

For the Pros:
1) inexpensive
2) It moves along pretty easily and is maneuverable.
3) It has a HEPA filter which supposedly helps DURING the vacuuming.

Now for the Cons:
1) The little filter inside the cannister gets clogged very quickly and makes the suction power worthless. You constantly have to unclog this sponge filter to make it work correctly.
2) The HEPA filter is useless for those with allergies (myself being one of those) since the dust goes ALL OVER THE PLACE when you empty the cannister.
3) Very few attachments and the hose doesn't reach very high places.
4) Very loud vacuum. On the Amazon review: "One of the company's quietest upright models..." - I'd hate to have to listen to one of their noisiest models! It's like listening to an airplane take off (and my wife keeps saying that I'm hard of hearing).

Overall, I'm rather disappointed in this model. I will probably look into the Dyson vacuums (a lot more money), but will probably go to Sears or somewhere to actually try it before I buy.

Best Vacuum I have ever had, and a Great price Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5
I have had this vacuum for about 2-3 years. It has been a great vacuum. My only problem is the rotary brush has malfunctioned and had to be replaced. Eureka did this with no problem. I still support a vacuum so strong it is melting its rotary brush.
Anyway, I have moved on to a Dyson. I still use the Eureka to check-up on the Dyson. It has caught many a Dyson miss.
Also, this product is somewhat self propelled and has a cord catch to hold the cord at whatever length you need. Despite the cheap plastic construction, it has been a great vacuum and competed with some of the best on the market.
While I have the new fancy vacuum, I still keep this one around and use it when my wife is not looking.
I sure hope their other products are this good.

Makes Dog Hair Disappear! Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5
I rarely review products, but this one deserves it! I have a dog who is a world-class shedder, and this vacuum works wonders on my carpets. It runs quietly, is lightweight and easy to maneuver, and and picks up ALL of my dog's hair in one pass (even when the hair is deep in the carpet and during the heavy-shedding seasons). The only drawbacks I have found is that the filter could be a bit easier to clean, and the exhaust smells a bit "doggy" when the filter gets full. But the cleaning power and effectiveness of this vacuum more than make up for any drawbacks. You will not be sorry if you go with this machine!
