Hoover F7205-900 SteamVac V2 with SpinScrub Brushes Description

With its five spinning brushes and fingertip controls, the 12-amp Hoover SteamVac V2 gets carpet, upholstery, and tough stains clean deep down. The cleaner is also suitable for tile, ceramic, marble, and linoleum floors (though not appropriate for hardwoods). Constructed with a dual-nozzle air path, the cleaner provides powerful edge-to-edge suction for thorough cleaning and efficient water removal. Designed to agitate the dirt out of carpet fibers and off bare floors, the SpinScrub brushes can be turned off with a simple switch and removed for easy maintenance. The cleaner uses a two-tank design that holds up to a gallon of water at a time and automatically mixes the cleaning solution, so you don’t have to monitor it. Both tanks are enclosed with convenient handles, making them easy to remove and transport. The recovery tank automatically shuts off suction when it’s full and comes with a built-in lint screen. A removable view window on the nozzle lets you see dirty water returning to the machine.

For above-floor tasks, the cleaner features an 8-foot hose and a stair/upholstery tool. Conversion to tool cleaning is manual but quick, and you can remove the hose and tool caddy altogether for more streamlined use. The cleaner comes with a carrying handle, a 27-foot cord, quick-release cord hooks, and a foot pedal to release the handle. Fingertip switches control rinsing and washing, and a trigger lets you release an extra surge of cleaning solution. The beltless design, as well as the removable brushes and nozzle cover, simplify maintenance. Hoover includes a 16-ounce bottle of carpet/upholstery detergent and backs up the machine with a full one-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

Great job for a short time before breaking. Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5
My family bought one, my sister also bought one. Both machines worked very well the first few times they were used, then our motor quit. It was repaired under warranty and worked a time or two more before the brushes stopped spinning and the whole thing started leaking. Same thing with my sisters machine. $600+ wasted on two cheap pieces of junk. We also had a Windtunnel V2 vacuum by Hoover that worked great until the plastic roller brushes literally melted after several months of use. Another $300 down the drain. I don't know what has happened to Hoover, but it's not the same company it has been for many years. Avoid Hoover products for the sake of your sanity and your wallet. We've replaced the V2 with a Kenmore Progressive bagless vac, $300 regular price - $250 sale price, that outcleans a friends $700 Dyson. Recommend the Kenmore (Sears) model 36932.

It worked fine for about a year. It's two years old now and leaks all over and brushes have quit turning. A big, expensive disappointment.

Worked wonderfully - when it worked Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5
I've owned several Hoover vacuums, one is over 25 years old and still works perfectly and the other has outlasted even my pricier Kenmore vacuums, so I didn't think twice about purchasing a Hoover steam cleaner. And, as expected, this steam cleaner does a really superb job, when it works. The problem is, it doesn't work very long. The clean water tank cracked first, then the shampoo bottle started to leak, and now the whole maching is literally pouring out water - leaving behind a trail of saturated carpet. In addition, it seems like I spent more time filling and emptying tanks, then I did cleaning. Each tank had to be filled/emptied at least 2x for each medium to large sized room. Hoover really blew it on this model!

Here's why I bought one, take it or leave it. Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5
I just took delivery of one of these. It works fine, but we've only used it once, so I'm a little hesitant to write a rave review of a product so many seem to have had a lot of trouble with.

So, here's my rational for my purchase decision.

First, my wife wanted one of these. She had been borrowing a friend's unit (which works fine by the way) for at least a year or more so we decided to give our friend's machine and our car a break and buy one of these for ourselves.

Second, I got a really really good price.

Third, I'm going to follow the directions and never use boiling water in the unit or the wrong kind of soap. Both can wear out the unit quickly. Also, we'll just go slow and handle the machine carefully.

Fourth, I shopped around and all the machines look like plastic junk unless you want to spend $700 and up and get a professional machine.

Fifth, as long as we have this machine, we won't be renting the real steam cleaner from the local supermarket. I figure if we can skip seven rentals, we've hit break-even on the machine. Too bad we can't just throw the whole thing in the recycle bin when it's useful life is over!

Sixth, we have a Hoover service store within a ten minute drive where we can get the spare parts if ever needed.

Seventh, I was able to get a three year service contract that begins when the warrenty expires for $59.00. So, this thing is covered for four years now. If I must buy "plastic junk", I'll spend more to make it someone else's problem to fix for four years.

So for now, my wife is having fun getting a lot of dirt out of our carpet with her own machine. We'll see how long the "honeymoon" lasts with this thing, and if it goes bad I'll update this review.

Good Cleaner, but some design flaws. Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5
I have given this machine 3 stars, because when it is working well, it is one of the best home extractor units out there! The machine has nice features, like the rinse feature. You can just rinse the carpets without shampoo. The parts that I see break frequently are the Shampoo tank itself, and the part the tank connects to on the base of the machine. I can't even tell you how many shampoo tanks we have sold for this machine. It is designed in a way that the normal consumer will break 6-10. Be carefull when reattaching the shampoo tank after refilling with water/shampoo.
