Dirt Devil M088300 Vision Turbo Description
Geared for everything from the bare floor in the kitchen to the high pile carpet in the den, the 12-amp Dirt Devil Vision Turbo offers powerful cleaning ability in an efficient structure. The vacuum has an adjustable 5-height floor nozzle with a wide intake path, triple-row brush roll, and substantial furniture guard. Completely bagless, it collects dust and debris into a very roomy, transparent dust cup that pops off for emptying with a simple release button. A boon to allergy sufferers, the machine's HEPA filtration traps 100 percent of pollen and ragweed, plus 99.97 percent of other common allergens. The Motorguard system helps extend the life of the appliance by keeping debris from the engine.
Though definitely a full-size vacuum, the Vision Turbo does not have the bulky housing of many models of comparable power. Its easily turned Swivel Casters add to its agility, and the onboard hose and tools make switching to above-floor tasks quick and simple. Attachments include the powerful Turbo Tool with its own brush roll, a dusting brush, an extension wand, and a crevice tool. Dirt Devil looks after the details here, too, with quick-release cord hooks, a carrying handle, a bright headlight, and a generous 32-foot power cord. --Emily Bedard
Dirt Devil M088300 Vision Turbo customer reviews:
The worse vaccuum ever! I have had this DirtDevil model for nine months and it has been awful! It just does not justify it's money. Firstly it clogged up-and it does this a lot believe me. It is such an hassle unscrewing and cleaning the pipes. Secondly, it overheats and you can smell burning. Thirdly, the belt has snapped twice.
Even when everything works the performance is NOT great! I even contacted DirtDevil several times for advice and even they admitted it was best for light use and was prone to clogging.
Lastly our DirtDevil has finally given up and died today, after just nine months, twenty uses and countless problems.
Basically DO NOT BUY this cleaner! Personally, I will never buy a DirtDevil product ever again. HORRIBLE!!!!!!! This is absolutely the WORST vac I have ever owned. I decided to log in here tonight (in the middle of moving) to share my opinion because I have absolutely had it with this piece of crap vac. As others have said it clogs way to easily and then proceeds to spit out dist and chunks of lint. It is an awful design, with too many tubes and connections, making it prone to constant clogs-sometimes every time I use it. I have resorted to taking my swiffer handle and jamming it in the main tube to unclog it, that is the only thing that works. The swivel casters are horrible. They make it incredibly difficult to push the vac and you can't push it when in an upright position...which let me tell you I am 6 months pregnant with twins and have a weight restriction-the vac is so heavy I can't lift it without straining-to move it from room to room. It's a friggin nightmare. Whoever designed this vac is a moron and should be fired. I will NEVER,EVER buy another Dirt Devil product again. EVER! In fact I am so angry with this vac that it is going in the trash tomorrow (and it is only a few months old-what a total waste of money) and I am going to buy a Hoover for my new house. i also took karens advice and used a swiffer to clear bug clogs thank you so much Karen!! we have had our machine for about 8 months with few issues but today no suction at allthrough the hose so we knew it was the hose. I went on google and asked for help and there was her review with her reference to several clogs. I quickly took her advice to use the swiffer hndle and yes it worked like a charm. Once again thanks so much!! This Vacuum is Not Good For Those Prone To Allergies! We have had a bagless vacuum from this company for awhile now and while it worked good for a while soon some flaws became very evident. It's bad enough that the plastic pieces and covers have cracked but the reason we bought this bagless vacuum is because we have allergies and we were told that these bagless vacuums are better for people with allergies then the vacuums that require bags but I have found that while the vacuum has a powerful pickup and really sucks up the dirt the stupid filter that is in the removeable bin gets stuck and also it gets clogged up with dirt, dust and hair and now dust is blowing out of the vacuum and I'm finding it very hard to use this vacuum and to clean this filter without it aggrivating my allergies and making my throat and eyes itchy and sore. My fammily has now just gotten rid of this vacuum and bought a new vacumm which is one of those old style ones that require a bag and to be honest the one they picked is not that great but it's better then this! Very disappointing and confusing. Buyer beware. After reading about 10 pages of reviews from customers on various websites (Amazon, epinions, newegg, etc) that all echo my experience, I've come to the conclusion that this vacuum, and most of the rest of the Dirt Devil Vision line, are pieces of junk. Here's why:
1) There are several very basic design flaws that make this and these vacuums hard, annoying, or complicated to use. For example, the power cord for this vacuum is connected at the very bottom of the unit. This means that as you vacuum the power cord is very close to the rotor brush and suction part of the vacuum, and you have to make a concerted effort to keep it out of harm's way. Also, the end of the hose does not connect very well to its port on the side of the vacuum. Many customers, including myself, have had the hose pop out of its port during use - this basically kills the suction on the vacuum, and sometimes causes dust to fly everywhere. Bummer. Moving the cord and creating a more secure connection on the hose would easily fix this, and I have to imagine Dirt Devil encountered these basic obstacles during testing; yet the flaws remain.
2) Almost every review I've read indicates that, while the vacuum had excellent suction the first few times it was used, that suction quickly fades. I've experienced this, also. As of right now I've used this vacuum maybe a dozen times over the 6 months or so that I've owned it, and it's not even capable of picking up pieces of thread or string off of my carpet, which is a very short pile. It just runs over them, and it seems like it grinds them into the carpet rather than picking them up. After vacuuming every inch of bare floor in my bedroom at least 3 times, it looks like I haven't vacuumed at all.
3) The dust cannister is not very intuitive or convenient. Removing and/or reattaching the cannister is not smooth or easy - you have to sort of rock the cannister into its place and it's not easy to tell whether or not it's all the way in. The little clip that locks it into place does not immediately "snap" when the cannister is in - you have to do it yourself often times. It's hard to tell whether or not you've done it correctly, and if you haven't, dust flies out everywhere the second you turn the vacuum on.
4) The hose is not very long or flexible, meaning that you have to stay very close to the vacuum while using it. If you try to extend the hose even a little, it often results in the vacuum falling over. Bummer.
5) The power brush. This is where my review differs from most, because most people LOVE the power brush attachment. I can see why. It's basically a small, air-powered vacuum-like attachment that sticks on the end of the hose, complete with a little rotor brush. It's designed for upholstery, etc. and most of the reviews say that it does a great job. However, I can't get mine to work! I don't know if I'm missing something or doing something wrong, but it won't move an inch. I plug it onto the end of the hose (which works fine), and the rotor brush doesn't move at all. It doesn't move when I roll it over things, either. Inside the power brush there's a little wheel that resembles a water wheel, which is designed to catch the air being passed through the unit. This wheel is connected to the rotor brush by a belt. I can work the unit manually - that is, I can turn the air-catch-wheel and in turn rotate the brush. In this way, it's working just fine, but it won't work without me helping it. Once again, I could be misusing the attachment - but I doubt it. If that's the case, and I am using the attachment as intended, it's just not working. I'm left thinking that maybe the decrease in suction left the vacuum unable to move the air-catch-wheel, and thus the brush. I tried cleaning the filter to improve the air flow, but that didn't help. An enormous amount of dust came out of the filter, though. Still, no power brush. Supremely bummed.
In summation, this vacuum was not worth the $60 I paid for it. The crappy hand-me-down bagged hoover I got from my mom when I went to college worked much better, and in hindsight, I'm sorry I trashed it and went with this one.
