Brita 42556 Grand Pitcher Description
|
Though most tap water in the United States is considered good there may be chlorine and mineral deposits that can effect the taste or odor. You can haul bottled water from the supermarket or you can use the Brita water filter pitcher to filter, store and pour your drinking water. Additional filters may be purchased as BIR 35501 or BIR 35503

Brita 42556 Grand Pitcher customer reviews:

Surprisingly Bad This is the 3rd Brita water pitcher I've ever owned. The first two were great (needed a new one because they were left with roommates). This pitcher is unlike them though.
Cons
-Top cover doesn't fit at all, falling off far too easily
-Water leaks out the back handle
-Filter comes loose while pouring
-Bad filter fit means black carbon particles get in to drinking water below
We'll buy another Brita, because we have 4 unused filters and are used to the taste, but hopefully the next model we try will work better.
Decent Pitcher I agree with the complaint from other people about the lid being poorly designed. But this isn't the first Brita pitcher I have bought so I was aware of the issue and was also fine with the filter change indicator merely keeping track of time and not actual water usage. I have bought bad filters with the black spots only once. If that happens again, I will seriously consider not buying Brita picthers again. But the pitcher's body is of sturdy construction so I feel it is an adequate pitcher.
Lid really is problem It is really too bad that Brita could not have made the lid fit better on this pitcher...for the money you pay you should be able to expect better quality. I still gave it 4 stars since I am so pleased with how it works, how great my water tastes, and no more bottled water. I can cope with the lid issue, but if I had kids in and out of the fridge the spillage would be a big problem.
Brita pitcher I bought this pitcher so I could stop buying bottled water, the only one I can drink is Evian. The water that came from the pitcher tasted awful so I won't be using it afterall. I am very dissappointed because I wanted to eliminate plastic from our home, now I can't because I can't tolerate the taste of the water. I will have to stay with my Evian. Therefore I cannot recommend this pitcher because I think it makes the water taste funny.
A Rebuttal I was a victim of the Brita "Drink Responsibly" advertising campaign (summer 2008) and I bought the pitcher before I read the reviews here. Reading these (1 star) reviews allowed me to look for the problems described and I have not experienced them. I did not note a leaky top, although this may have been because I was being careful thanks to K.M. aka Squishy's review. I was more concerned about the spout cover problem which I read in a couple of reviews, but I discovered (no pun intended)that the spout cover "floats," that is if you just pour the pitcher the cover lifts and water comes out. Mine did not leak. (this may be a redesign since the old reviews). I was perfectly able to pour water with one had into a glass sitting on the counter (didn't have to hold the glass either) with no leaks.
Amazon defines 4-stars as "I like it" which I do. It ain't a cure for cancer. It's a water pitcher and mine seems to work fine.
