Food grade or mineral oil from your local pharmacy will keep your board "healthy" without buying the pricey brand oil. Remember to disinfect after raw meats! It's actually best to have a separate board for meats and another for vegetables/fruits. Stay Away I had this board for 2 months and it started to warp. I never left it damp and oiled on a regular basis. I have never had such a bad wooden cutting board. Spend alittle more and get a bamboo one these last much longer. Come from a renewable resource and also don't dull your knives like the plastic ones do. Cutting board warped within a week... This cutting board began to curl up after a few days and after one week I couldn't use it because it wasn't flush with the counter. I put it away for a while and it straightened out. When I began to use it again, it buckled immediately and then cracked in half. Please note that I never put it in the dishwasher. While it is true that it was inexpensive I think that it should have lasted more than 8 days. Great little board! I've had this for 2 months now. I've had absolutely no trouble with it - it's a great size. I routinely abuse cutting boards and I've had absolutely no problem with it warping or splitting. I gave it 5 stars not because it's the most fantastic cutting board ever, but because it's worked just great and cost next to nothing. update after 7 months - still a keeper! If you like to use things once this is for you I thought this was great when I bought it. Then I used it ONCE and washed it and it literally fell apart...it cracked down the middle and is now worthless...what a waste of money.
