The Weather Channel IR-101TWC Infrared Thermometer Description
|
This infrared thermometer lets you get a temperature reading on hard-to-reach areas and keeps hands from coming in contact with the measuring surface. Some typical uses include measuring hot engines or machinery for evidence of overheating, determining heating or cooling loss along building walls, or checking food products to ascertain that they are being stored at a safe temperature. The thermometer measures cyclically for faster and more accurate temperature readings and reports findings in either Fahrenheit or Celsius degrees. A data hold feature lets you save and display the last temperature taken. The thermometer also recalls the maximum and minimum temperatures for a given series of measurements so you can keep track of the coldest and warmest points of the surface you’re measuring. This gadget has a backlight for use in dark places and a neck band and carrying pouch for easy transportation. The backlight turns off after 4 seconds and the thermometer shuts down 8 seconds after a reading in order to preserve the life of the four button-cell batteries (included). This unit is covered by a one-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

The Weather Channel IR-101TWC Infrared Thermometer customer reviews:

Weather Channel IR-101TWC Infrared Thermometer This is a good, compact, and Low Cost Infrared (non-contact) Thermometer for use in and around the home - to check oven, grill, BBQ and taking various temperature reading of items in and around the homestead. Your not encumbered with a pistol grip, red dot, etc. for which you will pay extra for the futuristic look of most other infrared units - This is a good basic unit for average use and the price is affordable !
Infrared Thermometer I have been using this Infrared Thermometer around the house to see where I am losing heat at. I am sure that it could pay for itself many times over in the money we can save on our heating bill. The experts say that all the little areas you lose heat out of is the same as leaving a window open all winter. So it helps to be able to locate those areas and try to do something to cut down on the heat loss. I do not know much about thermodynamics, but this thermometer helps to find the areas where the cold is coming in or the heat is leaking out. It seems to be accurate and consistant. I am sure it will more then pay for itself even in the gas I am going to save in the first year. In helping me to regulate the heat in different areas of my house. I try to keep the rooms we spend most of our time in around 70. In some area we seldom use there is no reason to heat them over 50 degrees. Then other areas we keep in the 60's. We have under 2000 square feet that we are living in here at the time. I was getting some 7 and 800 dollar gas bills last winter. But now they seem to be down around a much more reasonable 2 or 300 a month. Now I want to get a wind gage to see how much of a effect that has on heat loss.
