Features all aluminum casting, 31 X 24 inch cooking surface, 2 shelves, ash tray for easy cleanout, and 40,000 BTU 304 stainless burner. Construction: Base, pedestal, shelves, grates, pans, face plate, burners and venturi tubes are 304 stainless steel. Actual grill body is constructed from 5052-H32 aluminum. 5052-H32 is actually more expensive than 304 stainless steel. The aluminum conducts heat much better and faster than stainless steel and is necessary for even cooking. The aluminum body also withstands the outdoor elements better than stainless steel. An example is the construction of outboard boat engines that are used in salt water and automotive wheels. They are usually made from aluminum. The appearance of 5052-H32 aluminum is very similar to stainless steel. The thickness of the 5052-H32 aluminum is 1/8th of an inch thick, which is much thicker than any stainless steel grill. The grill head end caps are welded into the grill. It is built for years of outdoor use. The aluminum cleans very easily with WD-40 and a soft cloth.
