The system works very well and after a tornadic storm hit our area in Alabama, the wind sensor failed and they replaced it.

Good Weather Station Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5
After reading some of the other reviews and having just purchased the WS-2315AL I felt I must share my thoughts. I have owned other "professional weather stations" that were not as high of quality or provided as much information as the WS-2315AL. I found it easy to install and use after reading instructions. At $100.00 it is a great buy but don't expect it to be a $500.00 weather station either. For the serious weather watcher it is a good weather station.

LaCrosse Technology Wireless Weather Station Set
THIS SEEMS LIKE A NICE UNIT BUT HAVE PROBLEM WITH THE WIRELESS PART. I HAVE HOOKED IT UP WIRED NOW AND STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE UNIT GIVING ME THE CORRECT TEMPERATURE. I HAVE CALLED CUSTOMER SUPPORT TWICE. THE FIRST TIME THEY TOLD ME TO MOVE THE SENDING UNIT. I HAVE GONE AS FAR AS BUYING 2 OTHER THERMOMETERS AND PLACING THEM NEXT TO THE SENDER AND STILL SEE 7 TO 12 DEGREES DIFFERENCE. THE SECOND TIME THEY TOLD ME TO SEND THEM THE SENDER AND THEY WOULD CHECK IT OUT AND REPAIR OR REPLACE. I SUGGESTED THAT THEY SEND ME A DIFFERENT SENDING UNIT AND I WOULD SEND THEM THE OLD ONE SO AS NOT TO BE WITHOUT USE OF THE REST OF THE WEATHER STATION FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. THEY SAID NO. THEY WOULD TRY TO HAVE IT BACK TO ME IN 3 WEEKS. I SAID THAT MAYBE IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR ME TO JUST RETURN THE WHOLE THING. THEY SAID THAT WOULD BE JUST FINE WITH THEM. I HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR OVER 34 YEARS AND WOULD NEVER TREAT A CUSTOMER LIKE THAT.

Outstanding value Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5
I notice several reviewers have had negative experiences with this weather station, but mine have been very positive. This may be the least expensive fully-featured station that interfaces with a computer -- it's just a small fraction of the cost of a Davis Vantage Pro2 and, after more than a month of continuous use, it appears to be just as accurate as all others: I feed data continuously to the National Weather Service via the MADIS system and receive quality control check reports on data submitted every day.

While the control/display unit is OK, once you've interfaced it to your computer, you'll probably never look at it. Supplied Heavy Weather software is OK, but this unit also works great with Weather Display software ($73) -- far more powerful. Do note that the control/display unit connects to your computer via a 9-pin serial port plug. As my existing serial port is connected to my battery back-up, I had to buy and install a $16 PCI-serial port card to connect. While others have purchased serial-to-USB converters, I note many (including me) couldn't get these things to work.

The "wireless" claim could be a little misleading: the rain gauge and wind speed/direction sensor are hard wired (with supplied telephone cable) to the temperature/humidity sensor, which has AA batteries in it and transmits a radio signal to the control unit indoors. But much faster data sending occurs if the temp/humidity sensor is *also* hard wired to the control unit (6 sec. vs. 30 sec., I think...)

If you do your homework (highly recommended before purchasing any of these systems) you'll learn the biggest challenge you'll face is finding best possible locations for all the sensors. While some complain about the wires, having all the sensors separate from each other allowed me to best configure my system. 32-foot telephone cords are supplied; each can be doubled in length.

While I've had no problems and thus have not needed to contact customer support (terrible reputation), so far, this appears to be a great system -- at any price.

Data base errors Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5Average rating of 2/5
The 2315 weather station is not the best deal in town. If you are trying to keep a history of the weather. The data base is in a compressed format and if there is an error, you have to start a new history file losing all your data. I do not know of a data base that does not get errors in the data. All data bases have some way to repair or delete bad entries except this one. Contacted customer service and they said there is no ability to delete/repair the bad records. So after looking at all the other reviews on this product I can not recommend anyone purchase this unit.
