The knife, part of a novel, color-coded collection, is made by the premier blade makers at the Kai Corporation in Seki City, Japan, and features a high-carbon stainless steel blade with a grab-it-on-the-fly fluorinated resin coating in fresh, salmony pink. The translucent ergonomic handle, made of high-tech lonomer resin, lends a whimsical twist with its silhouetted chicken, cow and pork chop serving as a sort of legend to the knife's purpose. The knife is made from a single piece of steel from the tip through the handle (known as full tang, a must-have among samurais and serious chefs alike) for strength and balance, faster preparation, smoother cutting and less food damage.
