This product worked perfectly, and I have not had any issues with it whatsoever. After I installed the drivers, everything that I have used with it has worked without a hitch.

This USB to Serial adapter worked perfectly. I was affraid it would not be as good as a true RS-232C output but I had no trouble. Would by it again.

Does what it says, though a little clumsily (and not in Vista) Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5Average rating of 4/5
The small non-profit office where I work recently received as a donation one of those scales that will automatically calculate shipping rates -- if you have a serial port on your computer to load current rates onto the scale. I don't.

I was surprised to learn from reviews on various sites that it looks like all USB to serial converters have a hit-or-miss factor, but decided this one would be worth the gamble. It was.

It took some trial and error in when I connected it to the scale and the computer, and it did require that I install the driver from the CD, but it worked on my Dell running XP with all the available updates. So it gets four stars for that.

I deducted a star because it appears that I'll have to use the enclosed CD every time I use the cable. Not looking forward to trying to keep track of both pieces of a product I imagine I'll use only once a year or so.

Additionally, this converter did not work on another machine running Vista. No stars deducted because the manufacturer doesn't claim that it will, but still a downside, especially as it appears it's no longer possible to buy a new computer running XP. Boo.

Works out of the box on Linux Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5
I needed this to connect to my SBC ALIX-based embedded firewall along with a null-modem cable. It works without a driver on my linux (Debian) system except to figure out the serial line I had to run $ 'dmesg | grep tty' and it shows up as ttyUSB0. Set this in your serial client connection software. I tested it with minicom and Putty which should be in the packages for your distro. Debian makes liveCDs if you don't have a *nix box.

A very good adapter based on Prolific chipset. Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5
We have tested this converter under Windows XP, Vista on wintel notebook and Mac OS Leopard on MacBook. It worked very well. Overall, very stable product.
