If it's important to have a vacuum cleaner that is just as styling as your apartment, this brushed stainless-steel and black canister vacuum is a great candidate. The CV242's compact, rounded profile makes it look like the Volkswagen Beetle of vacuum cleaners and its light weight makes it easy to tote from room to room for thorough cleaning. This versatile vacuum has 1,200 watts of power and a manual suction control that can be set for heavy-duty action for carpets or gentler suction for drapes. The flexible hose stretches right into corners and the floor brush has six soft, rubber wheels that help it to glide from hard woods to carpeted floors without any adjustments. A chrome telescopic tube extends the length of the hose for overhead cleaning of cobwebs from the ceiling or dust from the top of a tall dresser. A dusting brush tackles those jobs while an upholstery brush takes dust and pet hair off of drapes and furniture and a crevice tool cleans along the edge of the flooring. This vacuum uses disposable true HEPA bags to trap 99.97 percent of dirt and impurities as small as .03 microns in size, leaving indoor air fresher than it was before vacuuming. An indicator on the canister's top illuminates when a new bag is needed. Another small convenience is the foot-operated buttons for the power and the retractable cord to prevent constantly having to bend over. Great vacuum for the price
The only reason I didn't give this vacuum 5 stars is because it doesn't have a beater bar. Other than that, it's fantastic! I have a shedding cat, a balding husband, a 2 year old that gets into, well, EVERYTHING, and a 2 month old who needs the floor clean for his rolling around, (He doesn't always stay on his play mat) and this vacuum really sucks! (In a good way!!!) I'm shocked at how long it takes to fill up the bags with as small as they are, and have had no problems finding/buying replacement bags. (Usually found at Target and Bed Bath and Beyond.)
FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE
I ORDERED THIS VACUUM ELEVEN DAYS AGO AND IT JUST ARRIVED TODAY, SO I WAS FRUSTRATED WITH THE LONG WAIT TO BEGIN WITH. ONCE I PUT IT TOGETHER, I USED IT ALL OVER MY HOUSE. IT HAS PRETTY GOOD SUCTION POWER FOR BARE FLOORS. THE PLASTIC IS PRETTY CHEAP, BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN OK FOR ME.
AFTER READING THE REVIEWS, I KNEW TO EXPECT A SHORT CORD, AND IT WAS. THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN I FINISHED AND WENT TO PUT IT AWAY. THE CORD WOULD NOT REWIND. NO MATTER WHAT I DID, IT WOULD ONLY REWIND A COUPLE OF FEET (VERY SLOWLY) BEFORE GIVING UP ENTIRELY.
MY PREVIOUS VACUUM WAS A BISSELL BUTLER CANISTER VAC, AND I LOVED IT. (THEY NO LONGER MAKE IT.) THIS VAC DOES NOT EVEN COMPARE TO IT, EVEN IF THE CORD WORKED PROPERLY. I HAVE TO RETURN IT AND FIND ANOTHER ONE. I WILL HAVE TO WAIT AGAIN!!!
Lasted a year
Lasted a year, now the hose keeps breaking, I fix it and it rips again
not so happy
When I unpacked this little sucker,it looked fairly sturdy, as this was one of the reasons for me to get it. What disappointment, when the floor attachment immediately broke off at he elbow that attaches to the pipe.
Fortunately I had the attachments of my old europro canister saved and they fit ( to my surprise), which saved me a return shipment and the hazzle.
Would I purchase it again? Probably not.
The Shark takes a bite out of the dust bunnies.
For the size I would have to say that it has amazing suction... You could suck a bowling ball through that tube! Not to mention it has great attachments that let your cleaning power extend to ceilings and crevices behind furniture to heavy to move. Great for city living as you can keep your books dust free as well as the underworld beneath your bed. Great for hardwood floors. Cool looking and compact so great in small spaces. A little on the loud side but for that kind of industrial strength suction who cares! I would highly recommend this for any one who lives in a small space in the city where dust bunnies reign supreme! It makes vacuuming fun again.
