A Beach Cookers Must! I purchased one of these and don't know why I didn't do it sooner! I love doing lobster/clam bakes on the beach and this gives me all cooking area I need to pull this off for up to 12-16 people at once. Easy to transport and store. If you like outdoor cooking....you gotta get one! Hot Stuff I purchased the Rocky Mountain Range Outfitter for our Boy Scout Troop. The stove is rugged and well built, compact when folded down and not all that heavy. The only negative is that the heat output at its lowest is far to hot to cook our meals over a period of time rather than temp. I am unware of any adjustment we can make to tune this hot shot down but we are prepared and we have overcome this problem with a couple pieces of conduit to raise the skillets off the burners. Excellent buy for a quality stove! It's a darn shame that Rocky Mountain Range is now out of business... but I've used their stoves for years and recently acquired two of this powdercoat double 12" burner model. Both were shipped for free by Amazon, in a seperate outer box and neither was damaged. Even on eBay you can't beat the price $89.99. Both work flawlessly and the previous reviewer who complained about too much heat on low simply does not know how to use the stove: (there is a simmer position on the valve knob just before turning it off which works PERFECTLY for the lowest heat settings the ambient wind will allow). Since the covers can fold up into vertical positions, it's easy to fabricate a rectangular back panel to attach with wing nuts and bolts to function as a windscreen if you need it. Performance wise, the heat distribution and power output is truly excellent for a portable outdoor stove. Be clear on one thing though, there IS NO Warranty since the company is OUT OF BUSINESS, hence only 4 stars. Better Stoves Out There for the Money No wonder the company went out of business. I bought one of these stoves and received lousy support and service. I bought some barbeque grates along with the stove and they arrived damaged. The company refused to follow through on replacing the damaged product after committing to and followed through with verbal abuse of the customer (me).
The grill overcooks everything even on the lowest setting. The company that made these sourced them from China and only designed them in the US. Everything was riveted together making it impossible to service & clean the burners and basin. Also the powder coat chipped easily.
