Polder 90617-90 Over the Door Iron/Board Wall Mount, White customer reviews:
|
Good heavy-weight steel This works well for us, the arms that hold the board up are of fairly heavy-weight steel so they seem reliable. We just switched from a T-leg to a 4-legged board and it works a little better with the T-leg than the 4-leg (the type pictured), but is satisfactory for either. Remember that most irons must be empty of water before you can store them flat (or they'll leak).
Simple and sturdy Simple and sturdy, does the trick, but nothing special to look at! What more to say?
Wasted Money The instructions for this product were fairly clear and the product easy to assemble. That takes care of the two stars.
My ironing board is a Polder IB-4815-570 Quicksilver Ironing Board. I figured - Polder ironing board, Polder ironing board mount - sugar pops and candy cane right? Wrong.
The board is too heavy for the the mount. Note that this is not a "heavy" board. It is not the super lightweight boards that college students use, but it is very far from a top-of-the-line ironing board.
As soon as I hung the board on the mount, the arms of the mount immediately splayed, the entire apparatus bowed out from the door and the thingy that keeps the two arms together threatened to slip out and cause all and sundry to fall crashing to the floor.
After twisting and turning for a few minutes hoping that it was the way it was hung over the door, my sister and I gave up. My ironing board is now standing in the corner behind a door. The mount I hung over the bathroom door - I use it for my towels.
So be warned: unless you own a $10-$20 extremely lightweight ironing board, do not buy this.
Far from perfect I agree with other reviews that this device does NOT work with ironing boards with angled legs (as pictured). You do need a T-leg board.
It is also a bit fickle with the size of the iron. If your iron is either really wide or really thin, it may not sit in the holder very well.
You also need to be gentle when closing the door that this is hanging on. While the top part stays secure, the bottom part of the iron can still swing. I have gotten used to this over time.
Other than that, it is a better looking device than some other ironing board holders. It's not very bulky or complex.
Looks are deceiving I purchased this Ironing Board Hanger cause I have a 'Y' shaped board like the one in the picture. When you hand the board on it, the hanger twists a little thus not hanging flat against the closet door. Also, the whole contraption hangs too high up so the door won't even close when the actual iron is on it.
