Eureka 2996AVZ Altima Bagless Upright Vacuum customer reviews:
|
Does The Job - But Made Of Plastic The Eureka Altima vacuum cleaner has come along way. First, the bad: It is still somewhat bulky to roll around, the electrical cord still is manual. The round filter DOES collect all the allergens, pollen and dust and really works, but when you need to dump out the clear container, you need to remove the filter AND shake out the particles in the filter (do it outside). Now for the good: The wide track is rubberized for protection and the adjustable height adjusts for a deep rug to a bare floor. It truly does suck up all particles (kitty litter, dust, etc.) without spitting it out the back of the vacuum cleaner. The `spin duster' is a neat attachment, as it is soft and really does attract and pull out dust. Simply putting it back in its case and turning of the vacuum cleaner sucks out the 'spin duster'. There are several great attachments that are very handy and handily placed. So, besides the noise and the bulk and the fairly cheap plastic construction, this cleaner is the best I have had in my household to this day. Its worth the price.
Absolutely awful! It's not worth the dirt it doesn't pick up. My feet and the vaccuum itself is covered in more dirt than is in it.
This is NOT a quality vacuum I agree with most other reviewers, this vacuum was a piece of junk. At first, it seemed like it was doing a great job picking up all of the pet hair, but the belt broke several times within my first year of owning it and I was constantly maintaining the vacuum. Now, after having it less than 2 years, the brushroll has warped the plastic bottom piece rendering the vacuum entirely useless. A complete waste of money, don't buy it.
Buy it if you like to touch all the dirt in your house! I will first say some positive things about this vacuum but believe me these things do NOT out weigh the negatives.
Positives
Good suction (when empty)
On/Off switch is in a great location
Easy to switch from floor to hose use
Negatives
Attachments do not stay put
Duster attachment does not work after a few uses
Dust bin is small
Dust does not stay contained in dust bin
Hose easily gets clogged
Filter quickly gets dirty and must be cleaned out by hand
Vacuum is very heavy
This vacuum has great suction when it is perfectly cleaned out. After just a couple of uses you must take it apart and clean out three different sections of the vacuum. While you do this you are not only being exposed to every bit of dust/dirt that you just vacuumed up but you end up wearing it. You have to take off the hose and run your fingers up in the machine to pull out stuff. When I take the bin out there is carpet/dust/etc stuck that I have to pull out of the machine. Then you have to open the door of the filter and there are tons of dust/carpet/etc trapped in there. Then to clean the filter is a mess.
If you want to vacuum up all the dust and dirt in your house and then sit and "play with it" then this vacuum is for you. There is no easy way to keep this machine free of debris.
I actually would prefer to vacuum dust up, never have to touch or breath it, and throw it in the trash.
You get what you pay for I bought this vacuum about 2 years ago. I was looking for something affordable (under $100), but good enough to suck up all of the pet hair in my house. I read the only review on the vacuum at the time and it was glowing. I bought the vacuum, and since then have regretted it. I won't say it's a horrible vacuum, because it's not, but dozens of poor reviews have popped up since I made the purchase. Here are my opinions:
- You can't turn off the brushes. Therefore, when I go to vacuum my hard floors, it sprays the dirt and hair everywhere except into the vacuum. I even tried using the attachments only on the bare floors. It's a killer on your back and the vacuum is still blowing crap everywhere the whole time.
- The belt burns out easily. Luckily, it's cheap and easy to replace, but who wants to do that only a year or two after buying a vacuum?
- It does have really good suction on the carpets. I will admit, it does a great job and picks up a lot. I usually empty my canister two or three times in the course of vacuuming all of my carpeted areas, so if you have a lot of carpet, it's probably a great choice for a low budget.
- The hose does NOT stretch. It only goes so far and then it's like pulling on a tight rubber hose. It barely budges and I usually tip over the vacuum trying to stretch it.
- The "power paw" attachment is a great idea. Most other vacuums have picked up on this now, though, so you can get it with a better vacuum. It's great for cleaning furniture and in the car.
So there you have it. For the money, it's probably not the worst vacuum out there, but if you can afford better, definitely go better. I'm planning on going out to get a Bissell Healthy Home this week!
