Euro-Pro EP585R 10-Speed Pro Stand Mixer with Rotating Bowl, Red customer reviews:
|
On the Fence I'm up in the air about this one. I bake a lot and was tired of using my long-standing $10 3-speed hand mixer. However, I refused to spend $200-300 on a stand mixer I knew I'd only use on the weekends. Although the Sunbeam goes for $80, I still couldn't justify the extra amount in my mind. So, finding the Euro-Pro, with its affordable price, 10-speed mixer and racing red looks was a bonus. However, it has its cons. When it arrived in the mail, it looked as if someone had used the hand mixer, although the bowl, beaters, etc. were clearly unused. When mixing pancakes, it is a bit of a pain that the beaters don't reach all the way down. Plus, when I made cookie dough with both the bowl and mixer at high speed, the stand literally hopped across the table, while the bowl emitted a grinding sound/burning smell. I purchased this mixer with eyes wide open having read the Amazon reviews. I will continue to use it as it fits my price range and it makes baking easier. Plus, it meets my needs as someone who bakes more than the average Jane but less than the professional Joe. My only concern is that Euro Pro no longer supports this mixer. While I almost wish I had purchased the Sunbeam, I like that this is lighter. However, this is a starter mixer or, to use another analogy, like the HMO of all mixers. It has enough power and gets the job done, but if you want to pay a few extra dollars for a mixer with a known brand, then by all means do so -
Love it, but beaters bend easily Okay, I love this mixer. It looks cool and it works hard. The problem I have with it is the beaters bend easily. While mixing a cake mix I stuck a spatula in the bowl and it got tangled in the beaters which ended up busting. Now, I know this is my fault, but I can assure you that if the same thing had happened with my grandmother's KitchenAid mixer, the spatula would have lost and the beaters would be unscathed. I realize that this little mixer costs a fraction of the price of a KitchenAid, but I would have been happier to pay a few dollars more to get beaters that don't bend. As it is, I ordered TWO replacement sets (planning ahead) of beaters from the manufacturer. The beaters were backordered "due to high demand" so I'm certain that EuroPro is very much aware that their beaters don't hold up. On the whole, I love this mixer anyway and I keep it on my counter just 'cause it looks cool.
Euro-Pro #2 just died... I bought my first Euro-Pro mix Nov 2005. I LOVED it! I had never had a stand mixer before. It was great for cooking with my daughter. I hand mixer popped off the stand so easily. The blades didn't touch the bottom of the bowl. As others noted about the blades bending, my daughter was mixing something simple like a cake mix and the blades wigged out. I ordered new blades, but the mixer never did work again. So, I ordered another about a year later thinking that was a flux. As soon as I received the second one the motor sounded labored. I should have returned it right away. The second one last about 18 mos and died. My husband won't let me get another one. So, I bought a reburished KitchenAid which works great but it is heavy.
junk. 9 weeks. 5 batches of cookies. Mixer motor dead.... Repair/replacement from manufacturer requires 2 way shipping equal to half of the item price. I now have a KitchenAid.
Please don't buy this This is probably one of my worst purchases in a long time. I returned it after a few days. It is just a normal hand mixer fixed to a stand mixer. Its made of cheap plastic and the quality looks cheap. Regarding mixing, it might mix more liquid batters which your ordinary hand mixer can handle. But if you plan to mix a dough for bread, don't use this. It doesn't mix properly. You have to keep putting the spatula in to take out stuff sticking on to the sides. The things at the bottom don't mix because the dough hooks are a bit too small. This thing is so light that if left unattended starts rocking and may fall on the ground. I know its cheap but what it does can be done with any $20 hand mixer.
