Functional for Basic Chopping But Definitely Below Expectations Over Time The concept behind these bendable cutting boards is a solid one. Each of the four provided is targeted for a specific food type - meat, poultry, fish and vegetables. They are even color-coded and emblazoned with an appropriate icon so that you make no mistake as to which board you should be using. I've been using mine for the past six months, and I am currently mixed on whether my purchase was worthwhile. On the upside is the portability of the boards, especially for quick chopping jobs. It also minimizes the chances of cross-contamination - easily the best benefit - but only if you are strict about following the color codes. They are also dishwasher-safe from my experience.
Flaws, however, have emerged. First, the color designs on the board show the wear-and-tear of the knives and continue to rub off over time. Second, the so-called "non-skid" feature is not universal. Despite the silicone coating, the board can slide freely on my countertop on occasion and alternatively, can epoxy itself if there is excessive moisture. Third, the silicone has left a sticky residue on the back, which I'm noticing is becoming permanent. Fourth, while the boards have a nice, substantial thickness, the key drawback is that they do not bend as easily as others if you need to pour any chopped food into a mixing bowl. Bottom line, I still use them frequently for kitchen prep, although now as a complement to the more substantial cutting boards I already own.
Silicone cutting mats I use my silicone cutting mats every day. They're so convenient and are easy to store.
Don't buy these--they WILL STAIN your countertops I bought a set of these after seeing them at a bridal shower because I thought it was a neat idea. Even though these cutting boards are a good idea, the execution is so poor I ended up throwing these cutting boards out after less than a year's worth of use.
After a few washes, the color from the designs on these cutting boards started coming off all over my countertops, which is really a drag when you have oatmeal colored counters. It took repeated scrubbings to removing the coloring. Also, as the color comes off, the boards lose any non-stick quality that they had.
I would not recommend this product to anyone. Buy different colored boards instead.
pretty good for getting the job done these cutting boards are pretty good..especially for using in a kosher kitchen like mine. I read that a lot of reviewers were dealing with the "paint" rubbing off of things. I experienced this also, but i realized that i had been cutting on the side where the "paint" was so pronounced. Meaning, there is one side for cutting, and the other side for gripping. don't cut on the grip side and don't grip with the cutting side. Once I figured that out..these babies worked like a charm.
Perfect if you want blue onions As others have mentioned, the colored paint from these cutting boards rubs off and leaves you with two options: having blue or green stuff in your food or all over your counter. I like the concept of the cutting boards cause it makes it real easy to get stuff into the pan after cutting without spilling but don't buy these.
