Rusty knives and worse customer service
I got these knives as a gift. Ironically, the first thing to rust was the part of each knife stamped "Stainless Steel".
Let's be realistic. These knives are cheap. They're thin and they're not well weighted. However, they say stainless steel, and you figure that that's what you're getting. I hand-washed these knives and dried them immediately, but they still corroded.
Now comes the bad part. I wrote to their customer service department twice and didn't hear back. I finally got their address (from the post office) and sent them back the knives. It took three months of me emailing and calling them (with 15+ minute wait times for Each Call) to get them to send me a replacement set.
The replacement set rusted in about two weeks. That was in September. I just got off the phone with Miracle Blade, a call during which I was interrupted so many times that I actually had to say "I'm going to finish my sentence" so their rep would stop talking. They won't refund my money. In fact, they won't refund Anyone's money after 30 days. The lifetime warranty is for replacement only. They'll send me another set of soon-to-be-rusty knives, of course--if I pay the shipping and handling...Again. I asked the rep for his full name, for his ID#, and for a manager, and he refused all requests.
In summary, if you buy these knives, they will rust. You will want to get rid of them. Your only option will be the garbage can.
Indestructable utility knives?
We have had these knives for about 10 years, and have never sharpened them. I use them in the garden, wash them, then back in the kitchen. I am not gentle on these knives. Last week, I used one for trimming new sod, and this week it is slicing tomatoes. They always go in the dishwasher. My brother and dad also have a set of these knives. My dads are even older than mine. We use the steak knives, bread knives, and the kitchen shears every week. I thought they were fairly indestructable until my husband set a hot iron on the counter next to the knife block (also very nice) this morning. So, direct contact with a hot iron will melt the handle, hence I am on amazon looking for a couple new steak knives.
These are not the most stylish knives unless you are into black plastic handles. After reading the previous review, I looked closely at the blades and indeed there are 2 small spots, about the size of the 'm' in miracle stamped on the blade of the knife. Oh well.
The blade says 'Miracle Blade III the perfection series' and the set with the block was purchased at the state fair 10 years ago for about $60. Perhaps these are different. Hmmm.
Customer service stinks
Since I gave this item as a gift, I am only rating the lack of customer service from the seller and from Amazon. Sleeves were missing from the box, and complaints to both the seller and Amazon received NO replies, whatsoever. On that basis I would like to be able to rate them lower than one star, but I can't. As far as the knives go, I can't say, because I have not personally used them.
Such a great set of knives I am buying another set
I really love these knives. I got them as a christmas gift and am very happy. They are very sharp. I decided to replace all my knives in the kitchen with these so I will need another set. I am not sure how they will stand up over time but so far no problems. Good enough to want more of them!
Great knives!
My brother in law fell for the ad on tv and started inputting his information to order some online. They had a special, buy a set, get a set for free. However he stopped as soon as he saw the outragous shipping and handling price. The next day they called to inquire why he stopped with his order and he informed them of the reason. They told him that if he bought the two sets, he would get one for free AND he didn't have to pay the shipping. He bought them and gave the one set to me, as he had no need for two sets.
These blades are wonderful. Extremely sharp. They will cut skin like butter! I have had them for roughly a year and have had no problems with any rust, like other people had. I do use the knives quite frequently and have found no problems in dullness or rust.
However, since I have had no problems with it, I have not had to contact customer service so I cannot say how well or horrible they deal with problems.
But considering most As Seen On TV products, and the fact that I got this set for free, I love them!
