Just started using this Seagate FreeAgent - so far works great. Easy to fire-up and working great.

So far so good. I have several of these drives and have had no problems with any of them.

Remarkable poor performance for a drive by seagate Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5
I bought this just off the brand name. I've had good experiences with Seagate before but this product is just terrible plain and simple. It will just stop working if you leave it plugged it in and I'm having numerous errors and lost data. I don't want to risk 500GB of my data on this POS so I had to go spend another 100 bucks to get a good one. Seagate sucks.

Do not buy any Freeagent drives Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5
I have always had good luck with Seagate drives but the Freeagent series uses a unique usb cable that makes it essential that you keep the cable 'glued' to the drive lest you get it mixed with your other cables. Neither the power supply nor the cable has any markings to indicate they are Seagate and therefore, while I can pull out any usb cable to connect any of my other usb drives, this is not the case with this line of Seagate drives. Why they would design a product to use a non standard cable and then make replacing that cable almost impossible is beyond me. I really can't say how well the drive functions because I have no usb cable to connect it to the computer and no way of getting one. I have checked their website only to be met with more confusion. Maybe one of your customers can clear up for me why a big company like Seagate would go out of their way to make connecting the Freeagent series of drives to the computer?

Does what it's suppose to Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5
Although I can't speak on the behalf of those who maybe got defective ones, I got this drive because through my research it was the most reliable and had the fewest defects and DOA's. I've had the product for several months and hasn't done me wrong. keep in mind though that whenever you buy any harddrive external or not the actual usable space is always lower than what it says due to how space is allocated. (500gb = 465gb of usable) all and all, it's a great drive.
