Dyson DC21 Stowaway Canister Vacuum customer reviews: Great Vacuum for Hardwood Floors I was looking for a vacuum for our hardwood floors. We have a 2300 sq. foot home and the only carpet is on the stairs. I purchased a Miele vacuum for $1200.00 and it did an okay job. I'm sure the Miele would do a bang up job on carpets but their floor tool is lacking. This Dyson has a few problems such as it does not follow you, it viers to the left. I'm constantly trying to keep it from banging into walls and getting it unstuck from furniture corners. The wand also spins and trys to kink. Since I don't use the stow away feature there is no place to hook the wand. Other than that the vacuum power is great. It even picks up the little tiny black dog hairs that the Miele would leave behind. I like not having to buy bags. With the few problems that it has, I would still recomend this vacuum. don't judge a book by it's cover When this came yesterday, the interior box was in very rough shape. The vacuum (dyson 21 stowaway) had obviously been packed in a used box - and we all know what that means. I very, very carefully checked the machine for signs of use, considering that I had purchased it new. There were a few minor scuffs on the power head, but overall, it appeared to be brand new. With some misgivings (I had waited a while to purchase this), I finally started it up and gave it a try. This vacuum works great. I am very pleased with the performance. The hose is sturdy, the cord tucks away (and it is long enough for me to go across an entire room), it pushes comfortably without a huge effort, and the wand is great for cleaning the bathroom fan vent, etc. It fits under the bed with little effort (unlike my upright). It pulls dirt just fine. I went from wanting to send it back RIGHT NOW to not wanting to part with it, ever. It works great. I would buy this product for friends (if they wouldn't get insulted that I gave them a vacuum, I mean, c'mon.). I really like it. I can't wait to clean my car next! Great for pet hair. I have five small dogs, two of which are chihuahuas, so I end up using this little machine every day. The pros far outweigh the cons which is why it got five stars from me. Nothing is perfect, but for the price and the size, this vacuum is wonderful. We have hardwood floors in most of our house and this picks up everything . . . everything. Be sure you don't have things laying around that shouldn't be sucked up because this will get them. Pros: Very high suction. It will get whatever is around it so vacuuming is prety easy which is always a plus. Especially if you have to do it every day. It's size makes it great for storing. It doesn't take up nearly as much space as some of the bigger models, but it's more powerful than nearly any vacuum I've ever used. It rolls well on hard floors. It's not as great on carpet, but on our floors, it glides along perfectly and moves around furniture very easily. It comes with almost any attachment you could need. I've just purchased some other attachments, but you really don't need them. It comes with a little mini brush that's great for furniture. Of course, like with anything, there are cons. The cord is short. You will have to unplug this in every room unless you live in a very small home. The attachments, while great, don't lock in so they do come off occasionally. It's not as good on carpet as it is on hardwood. But for some reason, it works really, really well on furniture. I can't figure it out, but it's fine for us because we just don't have that much carpet. All in all, this is a great little machine for the price. It does what it's supposed to and I've been using it every day for over a year and it is still working just as well now as it did the day I took it out of the box. There are a lot of expensive vacuums in my family. Some of them cost well over a thousand dollars and I'd put my little Dyson up against them any day of the week. I love it I owned the Dyson DC5 when I lived in the uk but when I moved to California I only had carpet in two rooms and so opted for a cheaper vacuum cleaner. After 3 years of having to dust the house on a daily basis I decided enough was enough and bought the DC21. It is great..better than the DC5 and just in a total different league to what I had. Now I vacuum everything, piano, computers, ceilings and I don't have to do any dusting again for about two weeks..it's amazing. I have realied that I have just been re-distributing the dust for the past three years. I love this vacumn cleaner. It is small and neat. I have found the cable, although on the short side, it reaches everywhere I just have to change the sockets more regularly. The dusting tools are great. The only downside I have found so far is the fact that it is difficult to dust at mid height level due to the stiff hose at the top end. That is a minor issue though so I'm leaving it at 5 stars. Love it, love it, love it. You won't believe the amount of stuff that comes up from your carpets. Best Vacuum to purchase Like this vacuum so much that I bought one for each of my daughters. Great suction, no bags to buy, stows away - and canisters are best design - uprights can't get under furniture and are heavy. Dysons are expensive but really get stuff clean! I will never go back.
