I'm able to carry a stack of more than 3 plates without any problem. Great as hot plates or for wall decor! I purchased these as a gift for a dear friend. She had just purchased her first home and these match her Simple Lines Square dishes by Corelle. She has used them as hot plates (trivets) as well as hung them on her kitchen wall. These protect your counters while adding a bit of style. They withstand pots & pans taken directly off the stove or out of the oven. **Not dishwasher safe.** I have the plain white square dishes by Corelle and am purchasing these to mix in and liven my space up a bit. These are made of tin. The first one is 10 inches long by 8 inches wide. The second is 7 1/2 inches long by 6 inches wide! Looks Great These mats look great on my table and are perfect with the matching plates. I also have plain black plates and bowls that look really nice on the mats. Worth every penny!
