Eureka 6833B Canister Vacuum Cleaner Red customer reviews:
|
Eureka vacuum My last vacuum was a Eureka. I had this vacuum for 17 years. I was so happy with the quality and performance of this vacuum I automatically purchased another Eureka vacuum. The new vacuum has good suction; other than that it is a piece of junk! It is made of REALLY cheap plastic. If it lasts a year I'll be shocked. The onboard tools are the worst I have ever seen, and the vacuum bag is the size of a single serve microwave popcorn bag. You will be lucky to get through 3 or 4 rooms before the bag fills up. Also, the front wheel on this machine is made of molded plastic, seemed in the middle. It has scratched all my hardwood floors.
Vacuum is as vacuum does So this model has a very simple and inexpensive design rugged but a trip down a flight of stairs may surely damage the product yet the unit is made to have cheap replacement parts. As with more expensive brands the parts are costly and not as economical to repair. I find that the motorized head is light weight durable and easy on the effort and as opposed to other more heavy attachment, this unit is easier to manuver around. The absents of a swivel hose both at wand and canister puts stress on the hose but tis cheap enough to replace.
Meets my expectations but it's got a few shortcomings. Unlike an earlier reviewer, I've not had a problem with the front wheel scratching our hardwood floors; I hope this is not a condition that develops later on. This vacuum does a very good job on both carpeting and hard floor surfaces. In fact, I'm actually impressed with the bare floor tool's design and performance. It's wider than most other canister vacs I've used (from Hoover, GE and Bissell), and it's a little lighter than its similar competition.
Perhaps I am nit-picking a little here, but I find a few inconveniences that I wouldn't have expected from a company like Eureka. Perhaps my biggest complaint with it is the length of the power cord. The owner's manual specifies it at 15 ft, which is just too short to traverse our 20' X 25' living room without plugging the cord into several outlets. Second, the "Power Hose Coupling" does not allow the hose to rotate freely more than just a few degrees to the left or right. Instead, the front of the vacuum needs to be turned in the direction of use as you move right or left from your starting point. If you forget to do this the vacuum hose will crimp and you'll lose suction. My third complaint also deals with the power hose: in order to replace the dust/dirt bag, you must detach the hose from the vacuum. Since the coupling is made of plastic (as are most parts on the machine) it will eventually fatique and ultimately require replacement. This hose is not listed among the replacement parts that the consumer can order directly from the manufacturer even though it appears as if it will be the first component to fail.
Price is right, but it's not perfect. Good For the Price, but Missing Old Eureka Terribly We finally had to lay our 30-yr-old Eureka canister vac to rest. This is what we got to replace it, and I can give it four stars for price and basic use. However, I long for the way they used to make them. This would be perfect if it was metal and had a better "swiverable" hose, like the old Eureka canisters. This also has several "tiny" attachments that are barely usable. I would have settled for two normal sized ones that would function normally. I just wish they made them like they used to. I guess the lightweight is somewhat of a plus, but I have a feeling this isn't going to last me 30 years like my parents' hand-me-down did.
