Vermont Castings VCS5007P 5-Burner Propane Grill, Stainless Steel and Black Description
Vermont Castings VCS5007P 5-Burner Propane Grill, Stainless Steel and Black customer reviews:
Vermont Castings doesn't stand behind their grills I have an older model of the same grill. It's performed reasonably well through the years. This year the regulator assembly that attaches to the propane tank cracked after refilling the tank, creating a fire hazard since it now leaks propane.
I called Vermont Castings to get a replacement regulator under their 5 years parts warranty (my grill is 4 years 9 months old) and they refuse to replace the part telling me the grill (according to their records) is out of warranty. I know for a fact that's not the case since it was given to us as a wedding gift in July of 2003.
For a grill that is supposed to be one of the best in the industry, I would expect the company to stand behind their product and support the customer, they don't. To make matters worse, CFM Customer Service is rude and condescending refusing to let me speak with a supervisor about the situation.
Bottom line, don't waste your money on a Vermont Castings grill. Go buy a Weber, Charmglow, or competing brand from a company that is willing to stand behind their product.
The finest grill on the market This is my second Vermont Castings grill and I was as excited to take delivery of the second one as I was the first. This is truly the Ferrari of BBQ grills. I spent months reading reviews and doing comparisons before finally deciding on yet another Vermont Castings grill. I've owned the current grill for 4 years and I couldn't be happier. The grill lights the first time, every time, it's heat distribution is impeccable, as it should be for a company who's manufactured heating products for almost 100 years. The gas distribution and flow is even and the porcelain coated grates heat evenly and are incredibly easy to clean. The grease collector is effectively designed to nearly eliminate grease fires and the grill can heat to over 700 degrees if you really want to seal the juices into your steaks.
My son broke one of the temp control knobs off the front of the grill by hitting it with a baseball. When I called support they were very friendly and helpful. They offered to give the knob to me free of charge if I paid for the shipping. I don't know why "chad" is so disappointed, this is his second Vermont castings grill. He wouldn't have purchased a second if he wasn't happy with the first. This was apparently his first call to Vermont castings support in his several years of ownership. How can you be disappointed when you've owned a product that's been problem free for years and has a minor issue with a functional piece of the product within days of the expiration of it's industry leading warranty? How can he attest for the quality of support of these other companies, he doesn't say.
