Eureka Altima 2993AV HEPA Upright Bagless Vacuum Cleaner I was very hesitant about buying a bag-less vacuum. I have also read about people complaining about cleaning the hepa filter on this machine. You do need to clean the hepa filter often, I do it every few uses. Despite that though, this vacuum works. I have had mine for over 2 years now and it kicks a$$. I bought Consumer Reports #1 rated Kenmore vacuum cleaner today and returned it to Sears, it is junk compared to the Altima. I got a Dyson expecting it to be far better than the Altima, not so. It is good, but at more than 5 times the cost of this Altima, it ought to be better. The Altima is neck and neck with it on carpets, though the Dyson 17 does tend to pull itself making it a little easier to use. I am seriously thinking about returning the DC17 and buying a second Altima at Lowes. This is one great little dirt finder! won't pick up hard small things I have to say that this vacuum has given me a lot of grief. My daughter loves to bead, and is not the neatest 12 year old in the world. This vacuum will not pick up the beads that she spills. It shoots them out the rear of the machine, or they all fall out when the machine stops. The vacuum is great for pet hair, or dirt--just not little hard things. I've also noticed that the hose clogs up more than it should. The irritating negatives unfortunately out-weigh the few positives of this machine. Avoid this thing at all costs. I bought this thinking Hoover, good brand, good price. What a piece of junk.
This thing has no suction, throws everything out the back, throws out clouds of dust that supposedly the HEPA filter is supposed to prevent and is now overheating because the blade gets bogged down on indoor/outdoor carpeting.
Oh, and this is the exchange. I returned the first one thinking it was defective only to find the 2nd one is the exact same. The repair shop I took it to checked it out and it's not defective, it's just a shoddy design. Hoover's customer support was worthless as well, basically saying "buy a different model then, can we recommend our much more expensive model?"
AVOID THIS THING AT ALL COSTS and buy another brand.
