Robotic Revolution! Just bought this vacuum and I am amazed with this robot. The construction is pretty solid, suction power is surprisingly high, and it is able to switch between carpeting and Pergo flooring without any problems.
I decided to put this guy to the test with its scheduling option. I only have one pet (a cat), however this is enough to keep me busy vacuuming after I come home after work. Anyway, I scheduled the vacuum to go off 2 hours before I get home. I could not believe it - this thing was back charging and the floors were vacuumed and clean!
Emptying the dirt bin was still manual work. I only wish this robot was smart enough to empty its dirt bin automatically as well.
I may be easily impressed since this is my first robot, however so far it has been one of the best electronics I have purchased. Cool gift Got this as a gift for my friend and he seems to really like it. Wasn't really sure how well it will work...however we looked at the dirt bin after a run and it seems to have picked up a lot of stuff. it's also fully automated and kinda fun to watch as it goes around the room. You can also set it on a timer to go off while you're not home. Would definitely recommend it and makes for a cool gift too. Not A Good Vacuum, Buy Roomba Instead First off, it just seemed that this version is a strip down version lower grade of Roomba.
1. It doesn't know how to detect walls and follow walls like Roomba.
2. It don't have extra dirt detection so it will do a spot clean.
3. You need a screw drive to service the brushes underneath unlike the Roomba Discovery, all you have to do is unsnap the cage and you can remove and clean the brushes.
4. The design is awkward. I don't understand why the trash bin is designed like that (odd looking shape). It is so awkward. It's hard to get the extra dust out that is stuck inside.
5. If you want to service this robot, you always need a screw driver to unscrew the parts to service it. Very awkward and inconvenient.
6. This vacuum can't clean and vacuum carpets, only hard floor even thought it says you can.
7. It takes more than four hours to recharge.
8. The whole point of getting a robotic cleaner is that you don't have to do the cleaning, so what's the point of a remote control? It will defeat the purpose of getting a "robotic vacuum" if you have to sit there and use the remote to control the vacuum. Duh? The whole point of automation. I don't understand why there is an extra on and off switch. The overall design is just terrible, but it's cheap.
I really don't know what were they thinking when they designed this robot. I wanted to give this a try because, the advertisement said it was "4th generation Japanese Robotics." Man, just because it's Japanese, don't mean it's good. Go get yourself a Roomba 560. This robot sucks.
Despite all the cons, it does clean my kitchen good and returns back to the recharging base. I think I'll just keep this for my kitchen since it can't vacuum anywhere else in the house, but I could have added a bit more money and get myself a scooba instead.
