That has not been the case with these filters. Water tastes good immediately after installing the filter. As ordered Everything went very smoothly and shipping was very prompt. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again! Used this in a kitchen Aid fridge. Worked great. This filter fits perfectly (even though it says Whirlpool) and works great. Ice and water taste so much better than the water straight out of the tap. The manufacturer recommends changing every 6 months, but I'm sure it's 'water quality' dependent as my filters last at least 12 months (Fort Collins, CO has great water quality).
