It's a very handy, usable size, sharp, and a good weight. It's perfect for slicing meats, such as ham or a firm roast. It is also a good size for chopping vegetables or nuts. It is dishwasher safe but I would hand wash is just to avoid dulling. If you don't have hundreds to invest in quality knives, this is a nice, reasonable alternative. I am very pleased with my purchase of this, the paring knife set, and the 4-1/2-Inch Round Tip, Wavy Edge Knives I've recently bought. Watch for deals and dropped prices and I think you will be too.
