This is supposed to have a filter. What is it filtering? Tank also smelled
moldy with continuous use. Apparently, the white dust is a problem with all
ultrasonic humidifiers. Ultracrap.

can't they do something about the white dust Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5Average rating of 3/5
Been using it for a month or so now and it does spew a bit of extremely fine white dust.

A lot of people have been complaining about these not working. Turn off your central heat and air then see how it works... If you are using one of these and have central heat and air then your humidifier is trying to humidify your entire house.

The humidistat (humidity detector thingy that displays on the unit) doesn't work right. I too have an Oregon science weather station thing and my Venta is off by at least 10%, which is not a big issue. I just want humidity.

They really need to do something about the white dust though. I think having to purchase and go to the trouble of distilled water is a little much to ask.

Great Microbial Chemostat Poor Longevity Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5
I live in a very arid climate and continue to look for a reliable humidifier. Ultrasonic is the way to go and I was happy with this unit for about 3 months. Unfortunately, the manufacturer advises against sanitizing the unit because the nano-silver nebulizer disk inhibits microbial growth. (Other manufacturers say to sterilize theirs periodically with mild bleach solution.) I doubt the validity of this claim and think such claims should be reviewed by the FDA. The tank basin will accumulate a milky white biofilm with sustained use. This is not calcium deposits from the water - it's a microbial community which forms a mat that you can watch grow (like sea monkeys). The unit is basically a chemostat, or continuous culture medium. It made my family cough while running. Finally the top handle broke while refilling. I will try to get warranty service but in the interim, buyer beware!

Awesome product, third Venta humidifier (all still working)... Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5Average rating of 5/5
I have two of the original Venta Sonic's that don't have the digital readout and am extremely pleased with them. I read the reviews of this new one and barely bought it... but good lord it's a great product. I don't have a hygrometer but I know I like the humidity where the readout says 45%, easy enough. This is my third humidifier from Venta [all are still working fantastic]. I gotta say something about the silly "white powder" that some people mention in their reviews - they're nuts...period....it's called dust people. There is no white powder whatsoever that comes out of a humidifier. People talk about white stuff on their TV's in their bedrooms - it's called dust; TV's are static magnets. Anyway, awesome product, buy with confidence, and buy the filters from the company's homepage - probably get a better deal on shipping than you would from a third party. Breath freely :)

CAVEAT EMPTOR: AMAZON.COM'S SUPPLIER, TODAY'S CONCEPT, FAILS TO DELIVER !!!! Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5Average rating of 1/5
After reading reviews on Amazon.com, I ordered this product from a company called Today's Concept. Four days later I received an e-mail informing me that Today's Concept had experienced a delay in receiving my order, there was a delay in receiving the product from the manufacturer, and they would inform me when shipment would occur. Alternatively,I could phone their Customer Service dept. for shipment info. I phoned, was placed on hold for over 10 minutes before finally being attended. I provided my order number and was informed that the product had shipped two day's prior and that delivery could be expected on 11/20, within about 10-12 days of ordering (which would have been acceptable). Today I received a mysterious e-mail from Amazon.com that my order had been CANCELLED--no reason provided!?!? I am a loyal Amazon.com customer and assume the re-seller, Today's Concept, is responsible for the miscommunication/misunderstanding. I recommend ordering products ONLY direct from Amazon.com. I also suggest that Amazon.com dump this supplier.
